Taryn grew up in a different world.
Her boyfriend was a criminal. His older brother was part of a gang. They weren't great people, but they were her family. Then everything changes when she's sent to a new family in the neighboring town. New family. New friends. A new world. She's elated. This is her chance for a new beginning, but secrets start being revealed and Taryn learns her new life has some ties to her old one, ties that she's not happy about.
Her new family might not have been the lucky break she thought she had.

“Taryn.”
“Right.” He was like a drug. “I won’t have sex with you.”
He chuckled, teasing me with his breath, and pressed a kiss to the side of my mouth.
Oh fuck. “I mean it.” I tried to sound firm.
“Stay the night anyway.”
I couldn’t. I’d be straddling him in the middle of the night. “No.”
“Please.” He kissed the other side of my mouth and I closed my eyes. It was such a soft graze, but I trembled. He was adding fuel to the fire with each touch, each tease. The wanting was building again so it was a blind lust, a blanket that was folding over me, and I was beginning to not give a damn about what would happen when the blanket completely overtook me.
His hand spread out over my thigh and his thumb dipped down, rubbing the seam of my jeans. It was so close to where I wanted it and I squirmed. An inch further down and he would be right there. My legs spread, just a tiny bit, and I felt him grin against my lips. He knew what spell he was weaving over me. Then he said the magic words, “I won’t let you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
My heart leapt up and was held suspended.
He brushed his lips across mine again. It was tantalizing and he said again, “I promise. Stay the night. We won’t have sex.”
I tried to joke. “Some good old fashioned humping?” The corner of my lip curved up in a grin, but brushed against his from the movement. We both paused at the caress. A whimper left me. I wanted him so damn much.
“Just stay.”
I have mixed emotions about this book, I loved it, I truly did and I’ve said it before about Tijan that I would recognise her writing in a book without a cover.
Her main characters are very distinctive, badass, tough female MC’s & aloof, melt your panties male MC’s, there’s always an underdog and there’s always a bad guy and that’s where I’m undecided - I think I was expecting it to be mixed up a bit and that was a bit disappointing albeit briefly.
However, what this book didn’t give me in different characters it gave me plot, twists and turns, roller coaster of emotions, many intakes of breath, suspense, mystery and an awesome ending.
Taryn is a system kid, mixed up in her dodgy boyfriends life and gets adopted at 17 into every girls dream home, but as ever all is not what it seems, she can’t let go of her old life, she becomes embroiled in her new life and before she knows it she’s fighting battles on both sides of the fence.
Despite her criminal past, she’s principled and fiercely loyal and there aren’t any lengths she won’t go to to protect the ones she loves.
I liked Tray, he has his own demons and secrets and his quiet smouldering strength of character was addictive, I just wanted a teeeeensy bit more………….now Jase, holy f**k I really hope he gets his own book, he is one hot piece of man and the mystery surrounding him just made him hotter!
All in all, I could never be dissuaded from reading a Tijan release, she is just THAT good, this leant more towards YA than NA but what it lacked in sex it made up for with an impactive storyline and above all it gave me “feels”.

Tijan started writing later in life, after she had already graduated college with a different direction in mind and a different degree under her belt. Hitting the brakes on that path, she taught herself how to write a good book and began posting at sites such as Fictionpress, along with Wattpad. After receiving such encouraging messages from readers, she self-published Fallen Crest High and has continued throughout the year. She continues to keep writing NA books!
