I’m sufficiently covered, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t aware that the dress showed off my assets well. Tight around my chest, gathering snuggly at the waist, with a scant amount of cleavage. Just enough coverage to still leave something for him to imagine. And I watch his face change as his imagination takes off running.
His eyes drift down my legs, tanned now from the eternal California sun. Momentarily he’s lost in what he sees and doesn’t even notice I’m watching him leer. Totally worth the extra effort getting ready tonight, I couldn’t be happier at the reaction I get. Eventually, his eyes make their way back up to mine and I arch one eyebrow, letting him know he’s been caught. A normal reaction might be to look embarrassed or perhaps even flustered a little. But not Zack. Instead, he flashes me a wicked grin. “You look incredible.” He’s the one doing the leering, yet I’m the one who ends up blushing.
The primary word that comes to mind with this story is “feels” it gave me all kind of feels.
I have to say that I saw the plot a mile off, which is unusual for me because I can never usually guess where a story is going. However, that wasn’t a negative for me and definitely didn't distract from how beautiful this book is, how well written and how the characters will stay with me. The only other authors that have done that for me are Kristen Ashley & Colleen Hoover so this story is in great company in my humble opinion.
Zach is the main player and he’s just adorable, smart, popular, kind and an all round good guy, his childhood friend and now sweetheart Emily is the complete opposite, shallow, superficial and entitled to the max. Zach finally reaches the end of his tether and manages to walk away from the ties holding them together………..
And then tragedy strikes…………
Enter Nikki, who is everything that Emily isn’t! She’s had a troubled life and is totally unassuming. She’s desperate to carve a good life for herself now that’s she’s practically alone in the world. Then a letter from her late mother rips through her life like a tornado and uproots everything she ever believed. From there the story develops into twists, turns, surprises and one of the most beautiful stories of young love I have ever read, call it coincidence, fate or even kismet her happy ever after seems to be written in the stars.
Vi & Dylan just nail it, they manage to take heartbreak & tragedy and make us believe that there isn’t much a person can overcome with a little love in their life.
