Knock Your Books Off was recently given the chance to read an ARC of Taken, the 1st book in the 'Breaking The Darkness' Trilogy by Felicia Starr. It was unique in every way possible. Felicia Starr, allowed her story to unfold in a one of a kind way, and paid lots of attention to detail. She has an amazing way of putting you inside the story and connecting you to the characters.

Taken, is not your everyday kind of paranormal story. I honestly do not read a lot of paranormal stories, but this was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other's being told these days.

Kasha, is a young woman that is thrown into a strange and new world that could never have existed even in her wildest dreams. When she wakes up to complete darkness, she has no idea where she is or how she got there. How long has she been gone, days?? Weeks? Will any one notice she is missing from her life? Those are just a few of the questions that Kasha ponders while living in complete darkness.

With her recent move, and loss of her truly cherished, and very dear to heart grandmother, Kasha doesn't have very much faith in getting out of the darkness, and back into the light. Amazingly, Kasha finds a way to overcome the darkness that has become her prison, and starts planning to get her life back. Through meditation, dreams, and gaining comforting strength from an extremely special Amulet given to her by her grandmother, Kasha slowly starts to believe she may be something truly extraordinary.

With a slow build up, and one heck of cliffhanger, Taken, introduces you to some out of this world characters, and situations. You will be wondering who exactly Kasha can trust and who should be kept at a distance. Do the people that have been given her trust truly deserve it? And, Gravin and Kaden, two men that accompany Kasha on this new journey she as been forced to take. Are they there to help her or they working towards their own agenda? Are they even actually there? These are just a few of the questions that run through your mind while reading Taken. 

Are you ready to step into the darkness, and join Kasha in a whole new kind of paranormal story? If you ask me, and I think you are. You are absolutely 100% ready to take it on!
